Holiday Opening Hours

Between 24 December 2025 and 5 January 2026, Dunedin Public Libraries will operate on reduced hours.

Our Community Libraries and their return slots will be closed from 24 December to the 5th January. The Bookbus and home services are closed from the 23rd December to the 12th January.

Normal hours for all libraries will resume Monday 5 January 2026.

Our City Library will be the go-to in the meantime. Its ground and first floors will be open for most of the holiday period (services include wifi, computers, printing, photocopying and borrowing) and you can return your books to the City return slots 24/7 throughout the holiday period if needed. Remember - there are no fines for overdue items and you can renew online too.

CITY LIBRARY: Ground and first floors open for wifi, computers, printing, photocopying and borrowing during the following hours:

24 December - Close at noon
25 & 26 December - CLOSED
27 & 28 December - 11am – 4pm
29 - 31 December - 10am – 4pm
1 & 2 January - CLOSED
3 & 4 January - 11am - 4pm
5 January - All libraries reopen
