Heritage Collections are located on the third floor of the City Library.

HOURS

The Heritage Collections are available for use during normal City Library operating hours:

Monday – Friday 9.30 am – 8.00 pm

Saturday and Sunday 11.00 am – 4.00 pm

Access to many heritage materials is restricted during weekend or evening hours. Please contact Heritage Collections staff to discuss your requirements.

ACCESSING MATERIALS

The Heritage Collections are a closed-stack collection. This means materials do not circulate and are able to be used on the third floor only. Staff will retrieve requested items from a secure area and bring the items out to you. The exceptions are:

Materials held in the Genealogy Room
A selection of current magazines
Select newly-arrived books
Government information and statistics
Maps

Certain restrictions are placed on requested heritage materials for their long-term preservation.

Customers will need a Dunedin Public Libraries membership card or Temporary Heritage Reader card to be able to access material in the Heritage Collections.

Temporary Heritage Reader cards are available, if you are not eligible for Library membership, on proof of ID.
