Welcome to this year’s Summer Reading Programme for children in Years 1 – 8

How to join in:

Register online or at your local library for this year’s City of Readers’ Children's Summer Reading Programme which runs from the 1st of December to the 31st of January. Pick up your Summer Reading Pack from your local library or bookbus and get started!

We’ve come up with plenty of reading challenges to help inspire you. Do as many of these as you like! Enjoy reading or listening to as many books as you can over summer, and if you’ve finished at least five books by January 31st, your friendly librarians will sign you off and enter your name in the prize draw.

If you’re feeling artistic, you can create a bookmark and enter it into our popular Design A Bookmark competition (entries for this close on Sunday 17th of January).

Have fun exploring Dunedin by visiting different libraries (and some other fun, free places) collecting stamps in your Summer Reading folder and taking part in summer activities as you go.

So sign up, dive into the world of books and be part of making Ōtepoti Dunedin a great wee City of Readers!!
